PRIDE Training

In order to be approved to adopt a child Ontario residents must complete standardized adoption training.  The PRIDE (Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education) curriculum was selected by the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services as the method to provide this training.  This 27 hour training program assists applicants in examining some of the issues involved in adopting and is designed to be completed in conjunction with the SAFE home study.

PRIDE is available through the Children’s Aid Society (CAS) for public adoptions or through some approved private adoption practitioners for private and international adoptions.   As with the SAFE home study, most Children’s Aid Societies have wait-lists for PRIDE training, thus applicants who are interested in public adoption may also choose to secure their training privately.
